BOSTON CHILDREN'S MUSEUM, DOWNTOWN BOSTON (EVENING SOCIAL):

08:00-10:00 PM EVENING SOCIAL: JAPAN HOUSE TOUR AND SOCIAL, BOSTON CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

Children's Museum social after dinner: Join us for a private tour of the Japan house as we eat Japanese cakes, drink tea and coffee, socialize and discuss how to use the virtual Japan house at your school. The restaurants listed below are all within 10 minutes walking distance to Boston Children's Museum. Allow approximately 1 hour to travel from Boston College.

Public Transportation: The Boston Children's Museum is located at 308 Congress Street in downtown Boston. From Boston College can travel to the museum via the MBTA "T" (train) in one of two ways, both of which start at the Green Line "T" and involve a short walk once you are in downtown Boston. The Park Street approach is a slightly longer walk which takes you through more of downtown Boston, whereas the South Station walk is shorter (about 5 minutes) but requires a train transfer from the Green Line to the Red Line once at Park Street and so the total time in transit is about the same. Below are instructions for both approaches:

Park Street MBTA stop (15 minute walk): From Boston College take the Green Line "T" (train) to the Park Street MBTA stop. Exit the Park Street MBTA stop and cross Tremont Street so that you're on Winter Street (the top of Winter Street ends at the intersection of Tremont). Walk down Winter Street, which turns into Summer Street after a few blocks. Continue on Summer Street for approximately 15 minutes (approximately 5 city blocks) until you reach the bridge over the Boston harbor (water). The Children's Museum is over the bridge and to the left: Look for the giant 40-foot tall milk bottle!

South Station MBTA Red Line and Commuter Rail stop (5 minute walk): Once at Park Street (see above) SWITCH FROM THE GREEN LINE TRAIN TO THE RED LINE AND TRAVEL TO SOUTH STATION. Exit South Station to the right of the Amtrak Sales window, to the left of the Commuter Rail platforms onto Summer Street. Take a right onto Summer Street and walk one block towards the water. Take the first left on Dorchester Avenue (the Federal Reserve Building will be on your left). Follow Dorchester Avenue one block and turn right over the Congress Street Bridge. At the stoplight, turn right onto Congress Street and proceed across the bridge. Look for the giant 40-foot tall milk bottle!

Walk to Children's Museum after dinner: The following restaurants are within 10 minutes walking distance to the Children's Museum. Click on a restaurant for more information, detailed directions, and menus:
